Birthing Class

So our last birthing class was last night.  We talked about all kinds of fun stuff to expect after the baby comes.

We ended the class by watching a video of the baby after birth and things we could expect.  One section was the "poopy diapers."  I noticed that Tucker left the room and didn't come back until it was over.  I asked him afterwards and he said that he was getting faintish and thought he was going to pass out as he was watching them change the diapers.

So here's my question... if my husband passes out (just about) from watching a diaper get changed, how is he going to do during the whole labor ordeal?  Does this mean he gets a free pass to not change diapers?  I'm thinking not... This also made me pretty relieved that we're going to have a Doula at the labor.  This way, I won't be left alone if he gets sick!

32 Weeks!

So I've been working with a few students from the elementary down the street from our house.  Yesterday, I was in the library with one of them and a guy who was working there asked me, "So, how long do you have left?"  I said, "8 weeks, hopefully!"  He then said, "8 weeks, Wow!  You're so big I would've guessed a lot sooner- like 2 months!"  Then he continued to say that hopefully the baby would come before the hot months of July and August.  Mmmmmm....  I just really didn't know what to say!

Anyways... just to clarify- I'm due in 8 weeks, 2 months, June 18th, before July.... whatever you prefer!  And here's a picture of me, huge me!

More reno...yay...

Tucker here, posting now that my fingers have healed.  I started to get some good sleep and had a free weekend or two, so of course I started doing renovations again!  But this time, rather than tackle a 6-month reno, we decided to keep it to 3 weeks.  We still had some leftover sheet vinyl (i.e. plastic) tile that your feet would stick to when you walked on it.  No matter how much we cleaned it, it still felt gross...kinda like giving a rat a bath...cuz it's still a rat.

Man, that tile was difficult to get up!  Why is it that all the gross stuff in our house is always the hardest to remove?  But, after 2 solid Saturdays and Sundays of back-breaking, blister-forming, gut-wrenching, lifespan-shortening, hard work, it finally all came up.  I never thought concrete could look so good!

With the fake stuff up, the rest was a breeze.  We decided to put in saltillo tile (like a clay tile), which is in keeping with the style of our home.  It's really cool, but it's naturally uneven, which makes it easier to install.  Saltillo tile is only made in the town of Saltillo, Mexico.  Some of the undersides of the tile even had articles from the local Mexican newspaper; I think there might have been a sale on avocados...or maybe some guy named Mr. Avocado was running for mayor...I was never that good with "the Spanish".

Spring Planting

I'm so excited!  We are finally using part of our yard to plant tomatoes this year.  I love, love, love fresh tomatoes.  We could've planted other vegetables, but I just want to fill up all our space with tomatoes.  There's such a huge difference between store bought tomatoes (even when they're organic) and home grown.  We're growing them from seeds, so the process is a little longer.  We won't put them in the ground until the end of May, but we're already starting them.

We got one of the hanging tomato plants too (it's in the green bucket you can see).  We also have another smaller container of sprouts.  We put three seeds in each little section.  Some of the sections have three sprouts and others have less.  We'll choose the strongest looking ones at the end to keep.

Spring is here (we hope)!

Our daffodils are blooming

This is another of my favorite bushes during Spring.

These are some pretty blooms at the top of another bush in our yard. 

I love Spring, and I love looking out our window and seeing all the pretty splashes of sunshine around our yard!

Tucker's at it again...

So, Tucker's in renovation mode again.  I've been waking up to the sound of him painting, installing a fan, scraping popcorn... you name it.  He gets up early to do things before work and then sometimes works at night too.  This is what he's done so far: 
Emptied out our "storage/extra clothes" closet. Doesn't an empty closet look nice?

As my sister Allison would say, "Oh, my lanta!" 

 Please don't even ask where I'm going to put all this stuff!

He also tore up the carpet and the carpet strips/tacks, scraped the popcorn off the ceiling, re-textured the ceiling, and repainted the ceiling.

Okay, so he doesn't normally work with one shoe off.  I wanted a picture of him and I woke up just a little too late for the early morning madness!

All we (aka: he) has to do now is repaint the walls, finish installing the fan, install the wood floors, paint the baseboards, paint the new closet doors, install the baseboards, and install the new closet doors.  Then we can get started on the nursery. : )
